AI-SEO Page Auditor privacy policy.
This page describes how the AI-SEO Page Auditor Chrome extension (“the extension”) handles data. It applies only to the extension — not to the AutomateLab website as a whole. For site-wide practices, see Privacy & terms.
Last updated 2026-06-23. This is a plain-English summary, not legal advice.
Who we are
The extension is published by AutomateLab (automatelab.tech). Open-source source code: AutomateLab-tech/ai-seo-page-auditor-chrome.
What the extension does
When you click the extension icon and press Audit this page, the extension audits the active tab’s URL for AI-citation / AEO / GEO readiness (43 checks). It may open a full report on automatelab.tech/tools/ai-seo-checker/ if you choose that option.
Data we collect
The extension handles only the following:
- Page URL you audit. Sent to
https://automatelab.tech/api/audit-fetchso our server can retrieve publicly available resources for that URL (HTML,robots.txt, sitemap,llms.txt). This is the same proxy used by our free web tool. - Audit results. Score, letter grade, and check outcomes cached in
chrome.storage.localon your device, keyed by URL. - Tab identifier. Used internally to show a grade badge on the toolbar icon for the tab you audited. No tab content is read.
We do not collect or request:
- Your name, email, or account credentials (no sign-in)
- Your full browsing history or background tab activity
- Keystrokes, passwords, or form field contents
- Advertising identifiers or cross-site tracking profiles
How we use data
- Audit URL — processed solely to fetch public page resources and return audit input to the extension. We do not use audited URLs for advertising or sell them to third parties.
- Cached results — stored locally on your device to avoid re-fetching when you reopen the popup on the same page.
- Full report link — if you open the web report, the same public audit flow runs in your browser on automatelab.tech (subject to our site privacy policy for that page visit).
Server logs
Requests to /api/audit-fetch may be logged server-side (requested URL, timestamp, response status)
for abuse prevention and reliability. Logs are not used to build user profiles. We do not require an account.
Permissions explained
- activeTab — reads the URL of the tab you clicked the icon on, only when you invoke the extension.
- storage — saves audit results locally per URL.
- tabs — displays the grade badge on the audited tab; clears when you navigate away.
- automatelab.tech — calls our audit-fetch API only. No other hosts are contacted.
Third parties
The extension does not embed third-party analytics, ads, or social trackers. The only external service is AutomateLab’s audit-fetch endpoint on automatelab.tech. We do not sell or rent user data.
Remote code
The extension does not download or execute remote code. All logic ships inside the extension package. Network responses are JSON and HTML text used as audit input — not executable scripts.
Data retention and deletion
- On your device: uninstall the extension or clear its storage in
chrome://extensionsto remove cached audits. - On our servers: server logs are retained for a limited period for operations and abuse prevention, then rotated or deleted.
Children
The extension is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
We may update this policy when the extension changes. The “Last updated” date at the top will change. Material changes will be reflected here before or with a new Chrome Web Store release.
